Choosing a 500mAh LiPo for the Tightest Enclosures
500mAh is small-device territory, where every millimetre counts. Our pouches span a 3 mm-thin cell (3 × 34 × 50 mm) for flat bands and earbud lids, up to an 8 mm near-cube (8 × 25 × 28 mm) for round or square housings where length is scarce. Because 500mAh can be a thin strip or a small block, always dimension your cavity against the finished size — the PCM and connector add a little length and thickness. How small can a 500mAh LiPo battery be?
The most compact 500mAh cell is about 8 × 25 × 28 mm (THOR-802528), a near-cube for round or square housings; the thinnest is 3 mm (THOR-303450). Which suits you depends on whether your cavity is flat or blocky — compare the finished dimensions of each.
Is 500mAh enough for wireless earbuds or a fitness band?
For each earbud (a few mA average) 500mAh gives many hours of playback, and for a fitness band drawing 5–15 mA it lasts days to weeks. Tell us your average and peak current and we will confirm the runtime for your firmware.
What is the thinnest 500mAh cell you offer?
3 mm (THOR-303450, 3 × 34 × 50 mm). A 3 mm pouch spreads the capacity over more length and width, so it suits flat bands, lids and patches rather than deep cavities.
Does the PCM and connector change the 500mAh footprint?
Yes. The protection board, insulation and wire harness add a few millimetres, mostly to length. At this size that matters, so design your cavity around the approximate finished size shown for each model, not the bare pouch.
What connectors can I have on a 500mAh cell?
PH2.0 and Molex 1.25 are standard, and we can match a specific connector, polarity, wire gauge and lead length. Specify it in the inquiry and it is confirmed on the engineering drawing.
Can I get 500mAh samples before a production run?
Yes. Once you pick a model or send your target space and current, we confirm the finished configuration on a drawing and can arrange prototypes ahead of production.
