Choosing a 900mAh LiPo for a Slim or Space-Tight Product
At 900mAh the design tension is almost always thickness versus footprint. Our 900mAh pouches range from a 2.5 mm ultra-thin cell for wristbands and patches to compact ~5 mm square cells for pucks and sensor nodes. Because the same 900mAh can be distributed as a long thin strip or a small block, always dimension your cavity against the finished size — the PCM, insulation and connector add a little length and thickness beyond the bare pouch. How thin can a 900mAh LiPo battery be?
Our thinnest 900mAh pouch is 2.5 mm (model THOR-255065, 2.5 × 50 × 65 mm). Going that thin trades thickness for length and width, so an ultra-thin 900mAh cell is comparatively long. If your product is a slim wristband or patch, a thin-and-long pouch usually fits better than a thick square one.
Is 900mAh enough for a smartwatch or fitness band?
For a typical fitness band drawing 5–15 mA on average, 900mAh supports several days to over a week between charges; a colour-display smartwatch drawing more will get roughly a day or two. Tell us your average and peak current and we will confirm the real figure for your firmware.
Can you build a 900mAh cell in a small square footprint?
Yes. The most compact square-ish option is about 5 × 38 × 38 mm (THOR-523838), useful for pucks, sensor nodes and round or square housings where length is limited. We can also tune the exact aspect ratio to your cavity.
Does the PCM and connector change the 900mAh footprint?
Yes — the protection board, insulation and wire harness add a few millimetres, mostly to length and slightly to thickness. Design your cavity around the approximate finished size shown for each model, not the bare cell.
What connector options are available at 900mAh?
Standard choices are PH2.0 and Molex 1.25, and we can match a specific connector, polarity, wire gauge and lead length. Specify it in the inquiry and it is confirmed on the engineering drawing.
Can I get samples of a 900mAh model before production?
Yes. Once you select a model or send your target space and current, we confirm the finished configuration on a drawing and can arrange prototypes ahead of a production run.
