Description

Choose THOR-505050 when the design can accept 5mm nominal battery thickness and needs more runtime than the 4mm THOR-405050↗ can provide within the same 50 × 50mm footprint. The extra 1mm of nominal thickness increases capacity from 1000mAh to 1500mAh, a 50% increase while preserving width and length. If reducing footprint area is more important than minimizing thickness, compare narrower 1500mAh alternatives such as THOR-804040↗ or THOR-103048↗, which shift the same capacity into different aspect ratios.

The nominal 5 × 50 × 50mm dimensions describe the bare cell. With PCM, the current finished assembly is approximately 5 × 50 × 52mm. Enclosure design should include the PCM high point, connector mating space, lead-wire exit and normal pouch dimensional allowance, especially when the device cavity is close to the 5mm cell-depth limit.

At 3.7V nominal, 1500mAh corresponds to 5.55Wh. The larger capacity improves available stored energy relative to THOR-405050, but runtime still depends on the device load profile, efficiency, cutoff voltage and operating conditions. The standard configuration uses PCM protection, 28AWG leads and PH2.0, with NTC optional; final current and charging requirements should be validated for the production device.

THOR-505050 Engineering & Fit Questions

How does THOR-505050 compare with THOR-405050?
Both share the same 50 × 50mm footprint. THOR-505050 uses 1mm more nominal thickness (5mm vs 4mm) to increase capacity from 1000mAh to 1500mAh, a 50% gain. Choose THOR-405050↗ when minimizing battery depth is the priority; choose THOR-505050 when additional runtime justifies the extra millimetre.
What is the finished size of THOR-505050 with PCM?
The bare cell is nominally 5 × 50 × 50mm. The current PCM-equipped assembly is approximately 5 × 50 × 52mm. The finished envelope depends on PCM placement, insulation, connector position, wire exit and harness routing, so enclosure design should reference the approved production-intent drawing.
Is the extra 1mm thickness worth the increase from 1000mAh to 1500mAh?
That depends on the project constraints. The extra 1mm of nominal cell depth yields 500mAh (50%) more capacity, equivalent to 1.85Wh additional stored energy. If the enclosure can tolerate 5mm battery thickness without affecting other stack-up components, the capacity gain is substantial. If 4mm is the hard mechanical limit, THOR-405050 is the correct choice.
Can THOR-505050 be supplied with NTC?
NTC is optional on this SKU. The standard configuration includes PCM protection, 28AWG leads and PH2.0 connector. If the device charge controller or battery monitor requires temperature sensing, specify NTC when requesting an OEM sample so the finished pack includes the third wire and thermistor element.

THOR-505050 3.7V 1500mAh LiPo Battery – 5×50×50mm

THOR-505050 is a 1S 3.7V 1500mAh lithium polymer battery built around a nominal 5 × 50 × 50mm bare pouch cell, providing 5.55Wh. It keeps the same broad 50 × 50mm footprint as THOR-405050 but uses 1mm more nominal thickness to provide 500mAh additional capacity. The current PCM-equipped assembly is approximately 5 × 50 × 52mm, making finished-pack depth and connector routing important mechanical checks before enclosure release.
